With CKUT Radio Camp, you will get the chance to try on, try in, and try out the world of radio! In collaboration with McGill Conservatory Daycamps we have designed a one week intensive program to introduce you to this fascinating medium of communication!

How does radio work? And a sound studio? How is the musical programming chosen? And the interviews? Answers to all these questions and more, and exciting hands-on activities are all programmed into this great camp! To be sure the experience is interesting for everyone, 10-13 year old and 14-17 year old will have their own groups and the camps will be held in alternating sessions. Also, the CRC gang (max of 10 registrations per session!) will finish their week by participating in a live CKUT broadcast!

New Specialized 2-week long camps for teens

Radio CKUT's totally bilingual Summer Radio Camp is now in it's third year and unveiling 2 new and exciting options for campers. We are offering two new 2-week long specialized camps for teenagers aged 14-17.

In the first week teens will get the full radio experience using CKUT's recording equipment and studios, and learning all of the basic radio production skills complete with two live-on-air programmes hosted by the campers.

In addition, the campers will spend the second week focusing on one of two specializations: Music and Sound Art; or Journalism and Documentary. Read on below to learn more about these exciting expanded camps!



1-Week Camps for 10-13 year olds

For 10-13 year olds we will be offering 3 1-week long camps covering all the basics of radio production. Over the week they will DJ, conduct interviews, act as on-air engineers, produce pieces in our sound studio and much more. 10-13 year olds will also get the chance to host and produce their own live-on-air programmes on Radio CKUT!

2011 Dates & Ages

    CKUT will host 3 one week sessions and 2 two-week sessions alternating between groups of 10 to 13 year olds and 14 to 17 year olds.


    Ages 10 - 13 (one week each):

    June 27 - July 1
    July 18 - July 22
    August 15 - August 19


    Ages 14 - 17 (two weeks each) :

    July 4 - 15
    Music and Sound Art Specialization
    -advanced DJ skills
    -build your own electronic musical instruments
    -meet local musicians and sound artists
    -take part in collective sound improvisations (no musical experience necessary)
    -how to organize a concert (with local promoters)
    -how to run a record label (from a local label)
    -record a live music session
