CKUT 90.3FM is a not-for-profit campus-based community radio station in Montreal. As a campus/community radio station, CKUT’s mandate is to provide an essential service to those in the Montreal community whose needs are not met by mainstream commercial radio. CKUT functions not only as an alternative to the status quo, but as a viable community resource. CKUT serves as a training ground for the community and student populations, and in doing so, provides an essential educational and informational service to the greater Montreal community.
The Production Coordinator is responsible for the administration and coordination of all production activities at CKUT. The Production Coordinator will work in conjunction with the Steering Committee and the Programming Committee.
Coordinating the maintenance and repair of studio equipment
Former writer and experimental music programmer for the long-cancelled but still-missed CBC Radio program “Brave New Waves,” in addition to being a former regular occupant of CKUT’s Wednesday 12-2 time slot (“The Music of Sound”, 1995-1999).
Turns up occasionally playing bass clarinet in a string of art-rock, jazz or weirdo bands (Exhaust, Set Fire to Flames, Ratchet Orchestra, Dubi and the Peacocks…)
Four shows of (mostly) contemporary avant-garde music:
June 6 Broken piano music
pianos abused by Henry Cowell, John Cage, Conlon Nancarrow, Annie Gosfield and others
June 13 Early Cronenberg soundtracks
strings, electronics, big-budget orchestras and zero-budget copyright-free tracks, plus the occasional exploding head.
June 20 Music and Language
the pitches of human speech (René Lussier, Steve Reich, Gavin Bryars, David Mahler)
plus “sound poetry” from Jaap Blonk, Henri Chopin and Makigami Koichi.

The 18th edition of Suoni Per Il Popolo offers an eclectic mix of free jazz, noise, punk , hip hop, new music, spoken word, musique actuelle, avant rock, out world, sound art, weird folk, a rock opera - workshops, musical seances and so much more. Every Tuesday throughout the month of June from 3- 5pm tune into the Montreal Sessions, hosted by a Suoni insider, to hear a sampling of all the goings on.
