Live from the Anarchist Book Fair May 26 2018

CKUT will be broadcasting live from the Anarchist Bookfair Saturday May 26th from 2pm - 4pm.

The Anarchist Bookfair will take place in two buildings across from each other in Parc Vinet: - Centre d’éducation populaire de la Petite-Bourgogne et de St-Henri (CEDA), 2515 rue Delisle - Centre Culturel Georges-Vanier (CCGV), 2450 rue Workman A short walk from Lionel-Groulx metro. Two days: Saturday, May 26 & Sunday, May 27 From 10am to 5pm on both days

CKUT will be broadcasting live from 2 - 4pm and present a panel discussing 30 years of Community News Programming on CKUT. In honor of CKUT’s 30th Anniversary we will be looking at the evolution of the news department. On the panel will be past coordinators of the department who will be discussing the approach and objectives of the department in the time that they participated. The discussion will be about 30 years of community activism, how we used radio as a way of engaging communities and facilitating social change. We will be looking at the numerous issues the department has covered over the years and reflecting on the struggles and successes of community radio activism. Buchinski Mills hosts If You Got Ears April 2018

This month If You Got Ears will be hosted by Buchinski Mills, a sound, language, movement artist. Each week the program will explore a selection of music from different points of entry into recorded material. The final week will profile an artist with an eclectic output.

The Montreal Sessions Goes Back In Time!

Week Four

In the March 20th episode of the Montreal Sessions we dig into the time capsule and investigate Feminism on the radio. Venus Radio origin story, a live performance and interview clip with tUnE-yArdS and an interview with Penny Pick up - past host of Cuts and Thread the Needle on the Riott Grrrl era. Tune in Tuesday 3pm -5pm

March 13th Episode Two of the Montreal Sessions Time Capsule Edition is a in depth interview with Ms. Pat Dillon Moore aka The Dreadhead aka The Empress aka Sistah P. Former host of Positive Vibes, former Station Manager of CKUT (yes, we used to have one of those) and current co host of Bhum Bhum Time alongside Angel, Storm and JD. She will dish on growing up in Montreal, her relationship with Reggae music - the many many stories she has to tell about her experiences at CKUT, the laughs and the fights.

Tune into the The Montreal Sessions throughout March for a peak into CKUT’s Time Capsule.

March 6th will kick off the month with an interview with Joan La Barbara, a great clip of who’s staying up at night with Roots Rock Reggae, a Sun Ra interview, a history of Margo Lane, bits of Rickey D’s fascinating oral history, and a spicy clip from Off The Hook which we had to shelve for a few years because it was too hot to re-air originally.
