No One Is Illegal Radio / July 2, 5-6pm / 25th anniversary of the Oka Crisis
On today’s No One Is Illegal Radio, we feature an interview with independent filmmaker Clifton Nicholas, a Kanienkehaka (Mohawk) from Kanehsatake, and part of the anti-colonial resistance there in 1990. This summer marks the 25th anniversary of the Oka Crisis. Clifton is currently working on his new film, In The Long Shadow of The Pines: 25 Years Since Oka.
Also on today’s show, we speak with Karyn Smoot and Andrew Szeto, community organizers of the Bay Area’s Anti-Eviction Mapping Project, about the housing crisis in the San Francisco Bay area, the violences of dispossession, and anti-gentrification resistance. The Anti-Eviction Mapping Project is a data-visualization, data analysis, and digital storytelling collective documenting the dispossession of San Francisco Bay Area residents in the wake of the Tech Boom 2.0.
No One Is Illegal Radio is produced and hosted by Carolin Huang and Jaggi Singh, part of CKUT Radio’s Off the Hour from 5-6pm (Thursday, July 2, 2015): 90.3 FM in Montreal and at ckut.ca everywhere on the web.
