LOU REED MEMORIAL SINGALONG BENEFIT FOR CKUT WED MARCH 25TH AT GALLERY OBORO
The second annual Lou Reed Memorial Singalong is happening Wednesday March 25th at Gallery Oboro 4001 rue Berri corner of Duluth suite 301. Come gather around the piano and sing the songs of Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground from 7pm to 9pm. This event wraps up a residency entitled Pianoriginal by Spike Taylor, Pianorignal is an interactive music sculpture/installation consisting of a nine-foot concert grand piano (a 1939 Willis, built in Montreal) upholstered in moose hides head-to-tail, legs-and-all. A 55” wide, 22-point set of antlers will be placed in the position of the piano’s music desk. A tree stump will serve as piano bench. The piano will be a stand-alone object as well as placed within a simple diorama with swamp/forest backdrop wallpaper and knee-high marsh grasses. The piano, hides, stump and antlers have been obtained through various channels over a long search period. What better way to enjoy this piano then to sing the songs of Lou Reed. Previous to this Spike made a clavicyclette which will also be played as part of this singalong / performance.
