Featured on today’s program:
-As Israeli airstrikes on Gaza head into their 3rd day, leaving dozens of Palestinians dead and hundreds wounded, we’ll hear the latest from the International Middle East Media Center in Beit Sahour, as well as from local Palestine-solidarity organizer Mostafa Henaway of Tadamon.
-We also celebrate the life of Detroit-based community organizer Charity Hicks, who sadly passed away this morning after suffering injuries from a car accident earlier this summer. Charity was a leader on climate justice issues in Detroit, and helped lead a campaign against water shut-offs which are currently coming down on low-income Detroiters. We’ll hear an excerpt from a talk Charity Hicks gave for CKUT’s Under the Weather program last October, as well as recent coverage from Democracy Now on an appeal to the UN to stop the water shut-offs.
