OFF THE HOUR at 5pm TONIGHT: Deepan Budlakoti, the Angola Three, and more!

Today’s show will feature stories from…

– A piece from Talking Radical Radio in which Deepan Budlakoti and Stan Kupferschmidt talk about the work of the group Justice for Deepan. The former was born in Canada and is being threatened with deportation to a country where he has never lived; the latter is a member of his support committee. Deepan Budlakoti is an Ottawa-born man who the Canadian government is trying to deport to India, a country where he has no family, has never lived and is not a citizen.

– A piece from Democracy Now! about the Angola Three, a group of men who were placed in solitary confinement in 1972 following the murder of a prison guard. The Angola Three and their supporters say they were framed for the murder over their political activism as members of one of the first prison chapters of the Black Panthers. We’ll be talking with Robert King, who until Tuesday night was the only freed member of the Angola Three; Wallace’s defense attorney, George Kendall; and Jackie Sumell, an artist and Wallace supporter who is with him at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans.

And more! Be sure to tune in tonight at 5pm.
