–>CKUT’s Portia Larlee is in Myanmar, and produced a 30 minute radio documentary “The Golden Harp”. Golden Harp Taxi is a Yangon based operation founded by three ex political prisoners who have collectively spent over 30 years in Myanmar jails since the country’s pro democracy uprising in the summer of 1988. Members of Golden Harp Taxi share Yangon’s hidden history and their experience as activists with visitors to Yangon. As Myanmar makes headlines around the world for reformist efforts, Golden Harp Taxi members urge listeners to understand that the realities of most people in Myanmar are still shaped by the military government’s long and repressive legacy.
