As you have probably heard, Trayvon Martin, a black, unarmed 17-year old from Florida, was shot on February 26th, 2012, by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer. Zimmerman, who states that he shot Martin in self-defense, was acquitted of murder on July 13th, 2013. Various media outlets have focused on the fact that the jury consisted of six women.
